DoodleBytes is a company that is dedicated to bringing great software to Mac users at a price anyone can afford.
The founder of DoodleBytes, Daniel Steward, got his start in the software business developing 3D modeling software and other graphics utilities for Visible Productions, Inc. Moving ahead, Dan was hired as part of a team of developers building Weblogic Workshop at BEA Systems, Inc . In 2003 Dan quit BEA in order to scratch an itch by starting a new company with his fishing buddy, Jan Beaver, called OutdoorSoft.
OutdoorSoft was dedicated to providing quality instructional materials for the outdoorsman. OutdoorSofts flagship product was The Essential FlytierTM. The Essential Flytier is a unique multimedia flytying instructional CD-ROM. Unlike other flytying instructional materials, which are essentially videos dumped onto CD or DVD, The Essential Flytier is a full-featured, cross-platform, java application built on sound instructional design principles. The Essential Flytier is still being sold even though OutdoorSoft has gone the way of many other startup companies.
After OutdoorSoft was dissolved Dan decided to tackle a new project which has become DoodleCADTM. DoodleCAD started as a simple to use, yet powerful, graphics application that could be used to do a variety of illustration and diagraming jobs. A thousand hours of work later it was obvious that DoodleCAD was a product that deserved to be marketed and so DoodleBytes was born.
